The Sweet Summer Journeys competition has been running for just over two weeks and there have been some excellent entries. We have three winners so far.
The first is Patrick Morgan who used the journey planner to design a picnic ride for Frocks on Bikes. His trip is here and there are a couple of photos from the ride and a short description below.

Cycling in style - it's what the frockers do
It seems that everyone loves us:
We called ahead and the helpful people at Tranzmetro (Dahlina, 498-3103) added a carriage to cart our bikes. Even the tandems went on without a hitch. $35 for each group of 4, return, and the bikes ride for free. Now that’s a bargain.
Martin at Wild Oats Cafe in Carterton (06-379-5580) said he would lay on free bananas and chilled water if we call ahead next time. He brought his big oil can out so we were well lubed.
And Leo at Gladstone Vineyard (06-379-8563) can arrange wine tasting and lunch platters at a reasonable rate.
I especially loved riding with 3 generations on a combination of tandem, tailgator, seat on crossbar and single bikes.
Frocks, bikes, picnic, river splashing, wine tasting quiet roads and a very good time!
We spied a good swimming spot so will be sure to return.
The second winner is Philip Blagdon with his Mount Victoria walk which was accompanied with the following description:
My walking journey goes from Wellington Zoo to Mount Victoria Lookout to Te Papa. The highlight for me is always the ever changing views of Wellington and harbour from the lookout, which are best viewed after making the effort of walking the hill.
Wellington’s town belt has a very complicated track network. If you want to follow in Philip’s footsteps, we recommend you print out a copy of the Mt Victoria map found under the ‘More Maps’ tab at the top of the journey planner screen.
Melanie Fisher is this week’s winner. Her Kapiti Coast journey through Queen Elizabeth Park sounds magic.
This is a fantastic walk, which I did for the first time after seeing it as a suggestion on your site. I am a mad tramper but, at 28 weeks pregnant, am only able to undertake the flatter/easier walks, so this was lovely. Had the weather for it too (Sunday 6 Dec lunch time) Will definitely return here with my buggy in due course!
If you haven’t won a prize yet, keep trying. There are lots of great vouchers still to be won and we’ll be making prize draws every week until the end of March 2010.
Such a lovely summer image, smiling cyclists in summer clothing, blue skies and gentle breezes. Lets hope February see a whole lot more great bike adventures like this.
